Well Hello Boys! Wonderbra Gets Even Racier

, , ,

Sex sells. We all know it and who knows it most of all…Wonderbra, of course.

In their newest app, viewers are given the chance to undress blonde bombshell Adriana Cernanova (see above). If you hold an iPhone over any magazine and online Wonderbra ads of the model – its all wham, bam, thank you maam and she’s in her nick nocks.

I was lucky enough to be sent the hi tech bra featured in the ads, aka the new Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless Lace Red, £36, and whilst I’m not saying you’ll look as immediately schmooking hot as Adriana (step by step, children), there’s good reason for the style’s bestselling status. The new red colour scheme, coupled with serious uplift and sturdy support means you are on to a winner, clothes on top, or not…

Introducing a Beauty Playground: Harvey Nichols’ Beauty Mart

, , , , , , ,

Retails a’changing.

Forget about popping in to pick up the essentials, more and more companies are looking to create destination experiences. And Beauty Mart is just that.

Launched by Anna Marie Solowij (former beauty ed of Vogue) and Millie Kendall (of Ruby and Millie fame), Harvey Nichols offers a tranquil boutique, nothing like the chaotic hub of a traditional beauty department.

With over 100 beauty products from all over the world, the emphasis is on exploring, testing and trying. Small stations are set up for you play around as you like.

Harvey Nichols

The beauty of it (excuse the pun), is that it mixes editorial with a retail experience; products are selected carefully as beauty editor’s favourites or cult buys in the industry. Amongst the selection, you will find Face Stockholm, James Read, and Steam Cream. The whole effect is very visually appealing, with retro lighting and wonderful colours and textures inviting you in.

And the bestselling product? Word on the street is the skin guru’s, Bioderma products’ are flying of the shelf.

Found at Beauty Mart

Curlformer’s, nifty curl creater’s that avoid causing heat damage, have also been selling like hotcakes. Maude (as seen in the piccie) brilliantly even has her own Twitter page: @MaudeBeautyMART.

The best news is Harvey Nichols promises there is even bigger, better innovative experiences to come. We can’t wait.

Backstage at David’s Oldham Beauty Shoot In This Weeks Grazia Issue

, , , , ,

If you take a wee gander inside this weeks Grazia magazine you will find a pretty super cool, health and fitness beauty shoot by acclaimed photographer, David Oldham.

And because Speaking Beauty was lucky enough to be on shoot (mainly ogling the models legs, arms, tummy, left ankle etc), we can bring you exclusive behind the scenes photos to show you just how everything came together.

The Australian model, Cassie with make up artist and her assistant in one of the first shots taken.

Cassie being tended to by the makeup artists. Wondering about the towel…?

…In order to get that fresh streamline look, Cassie had to have water poured over her

The photographers assistant sees the photo’s as they are being taken on his laptop and adjusts light and other details accordingly. These are then replayed onto a standing screen which the photographer refers to as he snaps away. Cool huh?

And finally a gratuitous dog shot (David Olham’s pooch fyi), purely because he’s cute as hell and checking himself out in the mirror .

OMG Lady Gaga’s Perfume Is Finally Out….And It Smells Like a Little Monster!

, , , , , ,

Lady Gaga Perfume

She’s a teaser that Gaga.

For 2 years we have been drip fed titillating tibits about her first fragrance, Fame.  First it was to involve blood and semen (err ewww), then it was revealed that it would instead smell ‘like an expensive hooker’ (blimey) and of course, lets not forget the promotional pics of the lady herself – naked except for miniature men covering her modesty (beyond baffling).

And clearly the hype worked, as we were beyond excited to be able to unravel the mystery and show you a sneak preview…

Lady Gaga perfume with packaging

So what is all the fuss about? The first thing you’ll notice is that its black. Yes, black.  Thanks to innovative technology, Fame is the first ever Eau De Parfum that sprays black and then becomes invisible once airborne. Nifty huh? The egg shaped (and we think very stylish) bottle itself is also inspired by Gaga’s infamous performance at the Grammys where she emerged from an egg. So far, so good.

And the smell?…Less promising. Fame has a unique structure called push- pull technology. Instead of top, middle and basenotes that most fragrances have,  ‘ingredients interact together and notes come out randomly’. Unfortunately for Gaga, there is a reason why perfumers stick to the tried and trusted. Fame’s questionable concoction emerges first sickly sweet and then settles into a strong spicy scent. The result is completely unique, wildly overpowering and definitely not for everyone. Hmmmm, remind you of anyone?

Fame is available to buy from 22nd August for £25

Today…The Sun Protection Hero: La Roche Posay

‘Sunscreen, schmunscreen’, we hear you wail… ‘grab 2 for 1 Soltan at the airport. Slip, slap, schlop and job done’.

And wouldn’t that be lovely! But, dear readers, we all know how important sun protection is and therefore it should be given careful thought.

Top notch brands, such as La Roche Posay give you everything you need and more. Firstly, and most importantly, they won’t backfire on you. I for one, am ferociously allergic to, the more economically friendly, Soltan (as discovered after a particularly uncomfortable trip to Corfu), and have since found many of my friends are too.

In comparison, La Roche Posay’s paraben and perfume free formula means that even the most sensitive skins are protected (their anti Rosaliac UV Anti-Redness Moisturizer is also genius for minimizing even the most severe rosacea, swelling and irritation). Additionally, the brand has a brilliantly wide range of products, allowing you to choose suncream like you would a day cream – for dry/sensitive skin, normal/combination skin etc.

And the best? Well, La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Extreme Fluid SPF50 is a real beauty editor’s favourite, it manages to be amazingly lightweight yet super hydrating. Plus, Charlize Theron raves about it…need we say any more?

Pop Up Chanel Store Opens in Covent Garden

, , , , ,

Apologies, for my wee disappearing act of late – I assure you all will be explained soon.  In the meantime, we have far more exciting things to talk about such as (cue drumroll)…The Chanel Pop Up store.

Yes, fashionistas, beauty junkies, general women of the world, Covent Garden is having something of a renaissance and is amping up its credibility with the crème de la crème of retail.

Of course, there were signs that the famously touristy square was heading in a certain direction – Covent Garden will soon see New York’s celebrity hotspot, Balthazar restaurant opening its doors, a ME hotel bringing back some sophisticated foot traffic and American label Opening Ceremony getting fashion lovers in a frenzy.

But for now it’s all about Chanel. After a very successful opening party on Monday night (why are the coolest parties on a school night), where the likes of Bip Ling, model Jade Parfitt, TV host Zara Martin and model Tallulah Harlech attended, the store officially opened on Tuesday until December 27th 2012. The style set got a sneak peek at the entire beauty range, as well as exclusive new products and the oh-so trendy makeover stations and dreamy mini manicure salons (fyi – for a decent 20 squid, redeemable against purchase, anyone can have a shape and polish).

However, we are more excited about what’s to come. Over the next seven months, we will see a Chanel Treasure Hunt (sure beats mini chocolate eggs), educational workshops, make–up vending machines, consultations with Chanel make-up artists and a festive surprise come Christmas – and all within the black and white sanctuary of the Big C’s. Now that’s we are talking about.

So if you too want to flock to the ultimate beauty mecca, stroll down to Market Building at Covent Garden Piazza. We’ll see ya there.

And even more posts up on Grazia!
